For nature enthusiasts staying at our rentals, you are perfectly positioned to explore a piece of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. This statewide network of over 500 premier sites is designed to showcase Florida's incredible biodiversity, and Lee County hosts some of its brightest stars.
Rather than a single path, the trail is a collection of protected stops where bird populations are known to thrive. In the North Fort Myers area, this means moving from the saltwater coast to the lush, freshwater interior.

Local Highlights on the Trail
🐦⬛ Hickey’s Creek Mitigation Park: A true North Fort Myers treasure. This trail stop is famous for the Florida Scrub-Jay, a friendly, curious bird found only in the Sunshine State.
🦅 Yellow Fever Creek Preserve: Just minutes away, this site offers pine flatwoods where you can spot Red-cockaded Woodpeckers and soaring Bald Eagles.
🪿 Caloosahatchee Regional Park: Located along the river, this is the place to see Limpkins and Wood Storks wading through the shallows.
The beauty of being on the trail in February is the "winter residents." You’ll see thousands of birds that have traveled from as far as the Arctic to enjoy our warm weather—just like our guests! Whether you’re a serious photographer or just enjoy a quiet morning walk, the Great Florida Birding Trail offers a front-row seat to the wild, "unplugged" side of Southwest Florida.
